I returned to running after a LONG hiatus. I had to stop running last summer because of Plantar Fasciitis. The week I was cleared to start running again I developed a lung infection I am STILL taking daily medicine to control.... but a few weeks before this most recent Crown Tourney I returned to running.
I usually only do a 2 mile run now, 2 or 3 days a week and it has been SLOW getting started again. MUCH slower than last time. Partially this is on purpose as I dont want the Platar Fasciitis coming back. Today I was able to beat 16 minutes on the 2 mile for the first time. First mile was about 7 min 37 sec and the total time was right at 15 min 52sec. Room for improvement for certain. My aim currently is for 5k's. I am doing a Warrior Dash 5k(ish) in August I need to be ready for. Its for fun with obstacles and other things that will destroy my finishing time but I want to be able to finish that race strong and do a few legit 5ks as well in the fall. Maybe I look at a 10k next spring but for now just the 5k distance is good for me.
I need to stretch my runs to 3 miles each soon but REALLY am dreading how much my pace will slow down when I do that. It has taken MONTHS to get me to the times I am at now. I have only gotten under 8min for my first mile 2 times now. But it needs to happen.
Wish me luck....

Sorry for those of you who see this twice (facebook people)
Here are some recent pics from the Biltmore House. Janine and I went down to have a Day Away... alone and relax some. We took the Rooftop tour and I got lots of pictures of the architecture up there including ALOT Of pictures of the little figures ...they have mounted under the Columns made to look like they are holding the columns up. SO MUCH detail so high up. Except for the roof walkers, who can see that? Hope you enjoy.
One of the "Gargoyles" is basically Winnie the Pooh... A large bear sitting down eating Honey from a Jar. No WAY you get that detail from the ground.
Awesome Tour
Here are the pics. http://www.flickr.com/photos/sinclairhawkins/sets/72157622335108959/
Hope you Enjoy them...

Sorry so long without a post. Been busy trying to get a paycheck or two here at the office.
We bought a 100 year old building to move our Law Firm into and I have been part of the crew doing the renovations most of this last week. Construction in the morning, Real Estate closings in the afternoon.
But on to the pictures.
My Dear wonderful wife kari_kyst is part of a youth organization that sends their best leaders to a conference every three years. LAst time... resort in Orlando... this time, Hersey Pennsylvania, the home of chocolate!!! We took the kids with us and had a blast.
The first day, Kari was in meetings and couldn't join us. We went to the Hersey Gardens. It started as a simple Rose garden 80 or so years ago and now is a sprawling maze of roses, flowers, exotic trees, a Butterfly House, you name it. They have dozens of different cultivated varieties of Roses and I got close pictures of many of them. Wife couldn't be there but I wanted her to see them. Pics of them and the rest of the garden can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sinclairhawkins/sets/72157621020807907/
The next day we got kari_kyst back and went to the Hersey Amusement park. Our son Dale has never liked Roller Coasters while the daughter, Jordan hasn't found one YET she wont get on. Dale finally tried some coasters and enjoyed them... none of the really big ones but he did loops and some Big hills. Likes the wooden coasters but I think they are too rough. The gate area is ENTIRELY TUDOR!!!!! You know I took pictures of those buildings. Pics of the park and the animals in the zoo that is attached to the park can be found here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sinclairhawkins/sets/72157621151140106/
I have another story to tell from the 4th of July weekend trip to Washington DC where I joined and took part in the Folk Life festival but I haven't finished loading up those pics yet. Hopefully tomorrow I can tell that story with Pictures.
One last note... My Squire Ulf, darthsem who has been becoming quite the armor maker recently, made a set of gauntlets for Rozsa, that are beautiful. Engraved leather cuffs for Rozsa to use while being a Siege engineer in the Army of Atlantia. I am quite proud of his work. A few pics... http://www.flickr.com/photos/sinclairhawkins/3702196197/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/sinclairhawkins/3703002754/
take care... now to go post these to Facebook too... so the family can see them.

I am going to "jail" on Thursday... as apart of a fundraiser for MDA. I was a slacker though and forgot to send out requests for my "Bail" money that I have supposed to be spending the last month collecting. It is for a damn good cause and I feel like a bum for not doing this right but with the last month I seriously forgot. Please check out the website and consider sending a few bucks to help bail these kids out.
Sorry to those also on Facebook as you got this message in both locations.
But thanks in advance if you are able to help.
You can mark yourself anonymous if you want to do so....

I know that it has been forever since I posted... I have been busy. It has been a nonstop adventure at work... I haven't even been able to get online to reply to most of my emails in over a week and the Yahoo account is approaching 1000 emails unread at this point...
sigh
But...
A few photos are a nice way to come back to the LJ ritual.
many of you will remember the "embattled" bed I made for kari_kyst last year.... Here it is again... http://www.flickr.com/photos/sinclairhawkins/2983000050
Well, we took it back apart and Kari was able to stain it and now it looks like this... (ignore the messy room) http://www.flickr.com/photos/sinclairhawkins/3648194577
Also, this past weekend, My Son, My Squire Ulf and house sister Rozsa all headed out for a "short" hike... in the nearby hills of SC. Here are some of the pics from that trip... sorry some are so bad but I didn't even stop for some of them as I thought they would leave me behind if I stopped to take one more Picture!!
enjoy http://www.flickr.com/photos/sinclairhawkins/sets/72157620143256996/

Had a great time at the event. So many fun things to do at one event.
I hope to write more about what happened there but time barely allows me to post this at this point in my day.
I of course took a few pictures, not any heavy fighting as I was FIGHTING then but some of the fencers, the meetings that took place and especially of the newest members of Clan Ebonwoulfe. Sir Theron brought his House to join with ours in this collections of Houses and Sir Rousell took two wonderful new members into his house as well.
Enjoy the pics.

if anyone recognizes people in the picture and can add a name in the comments section that would be great as I often cannot recognize people in their fencing masks or armor.
thanks.

Sorry for the major delays in posts... I have been busy as all Hades at work and haven't even turned the computer on here at work as I was spending so little time at my desk before running out the door again.
I hope to see a BUNCH of you guys at Sapphire, hope that many of you are coming. I get to be social again for 5 more months... the upside of losing Crown I guess
ALSO.. I am STILL looking to sell my 2 story Tudor house at Pennsic. It would be great for a merchant that wants to stay upstairs of his or her store and it is under the 16ft limit that Pennsic enforces. Also, it is already there. It lives at Pennsic so no transport fee to get it there.. you just have to have some place to put it afterwards.
Here is a picture or two of it.
Set up at Gulf Wars http://www.flickr.com/photos/sinclairhawkins/3291169939/in/set-72157605309425710/
Set up at Pennsic, just the building on the right, not the gate or small house on left. http://www.flickr.com/photos/sinclairhawkins/3291170351/in/set-72157605309425710/ (note: brown roof cover not included)
footprint is about 9'x19' and the upstairs is 20'x10'
you can find me at Sapphire to ask any questions about the building you might have. or email here on Livejournal.
enjoy.

Yet again I have the Honor of hosting a Knowne World Squires Tourney at Gulf Wars this year. It is currently listed as being held Thursday the 19th from 2-4pm. The Ravine battle is scheduled for that morning from 10-12 so there will be a break, hopefully before the Squires Tourney begins.
The Tourney is open to all fighters in fealty to a Knight or Master of Arms of the Society. Squires are challenged to come and do battle in an Atlantian Speed Tourney format until a victor shows him or herself from the assembled fighters. It will be a Double Elimination tourney so there will be plenty of fighting. I encourage pick ups after you are out of the lists as these events are GREAT opportunities to fight people and styles completely foreign to how you fight back home.
All Knights and Masters of Arms present at Gulf Wars are invited to come to the tourney and to sign the Scroll that is being prepared for the winner of the tourney. Even if you do not have a student competing in the Tourney, please add your name to the scroll as a witness to the combat done that day.
If you are able to do so I would appreciate it if some of you good gentles could spread the word of this to the different Kingdom lists.
I hope to see many of you at Gulf Wars next week. If not there, then possibly Blackstone Raids or Pennsic.
Sinclair Atlantia.

Sorry... no pics yet!!!
I got a chance to go to Candlemas this weekend and took a few pictures while there... seriously... just a few. Not my normal bunches as I was busy fighting. The mother in law has been staying with us and she lives in the room with my computer so I haven't had much access to it this week as she has been going to sleep early.
Maybe tonight.
A couple of pictures of Garb for some people who wanted to remember the outfits. The awesome Baroness of Steirbach, Baroness Rhonwen verch Tuder, was kind enough to pose for a pic or two and those are going to be part of the garb pics.
I worked on a new metal piece, a hook to hang a medallion or other such bit from on a necklace. It came out rough and I can and will do better.
Also got to talk with the awesome Alex campagnella and we agreed to build her a nice wooden building to stay in at events too... Luckily, the boyfriend has alot of strong guys around to put it up in no time. Just dont get to see her enough.
Back to work time..

I am looking for suggestions from my SCA friends.
Many of you know of or have seen my 2 story house I live in at Pennsic. I got tired of living in the mud that year it didn't STOP raining at Pennsic so I made a second story.
Pics can be seen at: http://www.ebonwoulfe.com/projects/sinclair.htm
I now want to sell it to someone so I can focus more on my Tudor complex which I mentioned in my last post http://www.flickr.com/photos/sinclairhawkins/3250086717/ so the older 2 story needs to go.
I think that the best person for this to go to is going to be a merchant as they can sell downstairs and store stock and live upstairs. It can be secured and locked from the inside protecting all the wares and is just one hell of a landmark which isn't bad to have at Pennsic.
I think an individual might want it as well but I was just thinking that a merchant was a good choice for its new home.
Any ideas how to get the word out to people? It needs to live at Pennsic (where I keep it now) or be transported by someone with a much stronger vehicle than mine.
Well... what do you all think?
